ABOUT ME
Resa Willis is a writer of fiction and nonfiction.
As a writer and teacher of words, I’ve learned writers teach us about life, if we’d only listen to them.
I’m a professor emeritus of English (don’t let that scare you, I’m actually a lot of fun as you’ll see in my posts). I’m the author of Mark and Livy, the Love Story of Mark Twain and the Woman Who Almost Tamed Him, based on the marriage of Mark Twain and Olivia Langdon Clemens, and FDR and Lucy: Lovers and Friends, which explores the relationship of President Franklin Roosevelt and Lucy Mercer Rutherfurd. Then I turned my biographer’s eye to my own life and wrote Farmer’s Daughter And I Can Prove It, a humorous account of growing up on an Iowa farm in the 50s and 60s. I’ve also written two romance novels that I’ve promised my family I wouldn’t publish under my name!

(I must say, as a retired English teacher, it bothers me that email wouldn’t let me use ‘s with my name. You can take the woman out of the class, but you… Read more: For my many fans

There’s much to be learned from living in a freak show and the loyalty that goes… Read more: Blog #9–Three of the “darndest” things I’ve seen, so far, in my life.
- Blog#8–Huzzah! Kansas City Renaissance Festival”Frame your mind to mirth and merriment, which bars a thousand harms and lengthens life.” My quotation comes from one of the real stars of the Renaissance, William Shakespeare. You’ve probably heard of some of the others from this cultural era between the 14th and 17th centuries—big names like Da Vinci and Michelangelo. Not a… Read more: Blog#8–Huzzah! - Resa’s Pieces#7–Elon, Ada, and MeSeptember 3, 2023 ”That brain of mine is something more than merely mortal; as time will show.” If you thought that quotations was from Elon Musk, I fooled you. - Resa’s Pieces #6–How to be invisibleIt’s pretty easy. No magic spells or potions. You don’t even really have to try. All you have to do is get older, and that can be liberating. “What a pleasant life could be had in this world, by a handsome, sensible old lady of good fortune, blessed with a sound constitution and a firm… Read more: Resa’s Pieces #6–How to be invisible
